On Tuesday March 12th, 2024, just before 11PM, local police and firefighters were called to Sunset Village Mobile Home Park on Sunset Drive in West Sedona about a fire that had erupted in a mobile home park. SFD said “significant flames” were engulfing the home and surrounding trees.
As Sedona Police officers evacuated nearby homes, crews were reportedly alerted to a person who may have still been inside the home. Fire crews attacked the blaze and tried to reach the occupant at the rear of the unit and found an “older adult woman.” She was removed from the home and taken to a nearby hospital where she died.
However, on Wednesday around 9:30 p.m., flames sparked again at the home, burning more sections of the house that were previously untouched. Eight fire units and 13 firefighters battled the flames of the second fire, while 10 fire units and 18 firefighters put out the fire during the initial call. No firefighters were hurt and no other houses were damaged in either fire.
The victim has not been publicly identified as of Wednesday morning. Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
The highly skilled legal team at BrewerWood law firm boasts over 50 years of collective experience in representing victims of fires and explosions that occur in homes, apartments, mobile homes, structures, and vehicles. Frequently, determining the cause of a fire/explosion remains uncertain even after official investigations. In many instances, investigators are quick to attribute the fire/explosion to human error when, in reality, some other underlying issue led to the blaze. Time and time again, the attorneys at BrewerWood have revealed that the true cause of a fire/explosion was a faulty appliance, leaking gas valve or piping, negligence of service/utility providers (e.g. gas company or electric company), defective electrical system, or substandard home construction, which can mean that a product manufacturer, gas/electrical company, or other entity can be held responsible. BrewerWood conducts comprehensive investigations into each fire/explosion incident, collaborating with an elite team of experts including fire investigators, utility inspectors, and engineers. It is crucial to consult an attorney promptly after a house fire or explosion before vital evidence is lost or recollections fade.
