Fatal Plane Crash in Williams, Arizona – BrewerWood News

According to multiple news reports, a fatal plane accident occurred on October 17, 2023 at approximately 12:20 p.m. in Williams, Arizona.

While the details of the crash are not fully known at this time, it is being reported that the aircraft may have lost power during flight. The FAA, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Williams Police Department and Coconino County officials are still investigating.

Reportedly both passengers and the pilot died in the crash. The deceased passengers were identified as Christopher Evans, 44, of La Mesa, California, Dakota L. Almazan, a 51-year-old resident of Las Vegas, and Hyemoon Kim, 31, from South Korea, who was piloting the aircraft. The experience of the pilot is unknown at this time.

It has been known that the plane was registered to a flight school out of San Diego called First Flight Corp.  The aircraft was a Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee Cruiser and was manufactured in 1976. According to Flight Aware, Kim took off from the North Las Vegas Airport just after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. It was last seen in Kingman an hour later at an altitude of 9,300 feet. There’s no record beyond that.

Hours later, around 12:30 p.m., people in the Williams area told law enforcement they heard the plane make noises that sounded like low or no power. That’s when Kim turned the plane back north toward Williams Airport but never made it. The crash is still under investigation. Multiple sources have reached out to the flight school and the Williams Airport, but both said they can’t comment.
