WOMAN DIES MORE THAN 3 MONTHS AFTER MOTORCYCLE CRASH

Motorcyclists traveling on the roadways are in an almost constant danger because of drivers who don't pay attention while they drive. That risk is increased when motorists who have been consuming alcohol decide to drive. The effects a drunk driving accident can have when a motorcyclist is involved are very serious. That fact is proven by a motorcycle accident that happened on May 3.
The motorcycle accident occurred when an alleged drunk driver struck two motorcyclists. One of the motorcyclists was able to escape injury. The other motorcyclist, the second one that was struck, suffered from a severed spine. That injury led to paraplegia. Her teeth were knocked out in the accident and other injuries occurred.

The injured woman faced a long road to recovery, but that journey was ended on Aug. 21 when she died of an infection. That infection was being treated but it proved to be too much for her body to handle.

The alleged drunk driver has four previous DUI convictions with this accident being the fifth. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated DUI, and criminal damage. With the recent death of one of the victims, the man may face additional criminal charges. A civil lawsuit has also been filed by the woman's family.

There is never an excuse for drunk driving. When a loved one dies because of an accident caused by a drunk driver, the family members left behind might opt to seek compensation for their loved one's death. A civil lawsuit is one way to hold the drunk driver accountable for his or her thoughtless actions.
