LEGAL STORIES AND INSIGHTS FROM BREWERWOOD.

Pickup driver arrested following motorcycle rider fatality

Police in Casa Grande reported that a motorcyclist was killed on Feb. 22 at around 6:00 p.m.  Investigators concluded that a pickup pulled out in front of the motorcycle while both the truck and motorcycle had green lights.  Apparently the rider was unable to avoid any collision and he died at the scene of the accident.
The 42-year-old driver of the pickup truck was arrested and charged with a count of causing death by use of a motor vehicle.  It was also reported that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license.

There can be a number of reasons why motorcycle accidents occur. Drivers often fail to yield to a motorcycle or assume that a motorcycle is not present without taking adequate time to check out for the presence of other vehicles. In some instances accidents occur due to distracted driving where the driver is on the cell phone or texting just before a motorcycle accident occurs.

Yet no matter how simple such an accident is, placing oneself back in the same position as if the accident had never occurred can be difficult or even impossible. Motorcycle accidents often result in catastrophic accidents for riders in part because of the different sizes of vehicles involved in the crash.

Family members and victims are entitled to compensation when a motorcycle accident occurs that involves the negligence of other individuals. However, as victims may not always understand their legal options the assistance of a personal injury attorney can be invaluable. Besides providing compensation to victims, law suits can also send notice that drivers need to be more attentive to the presence of motorcycle riders.
