IS INJURY PREVENTION IMPORTANT TO ALL MOTORCYCLISTS?

While most motorcyclists understand the importance of injury prevention, some never take this into consideration. Instead, they believe they'll never be involved in an accident.
If you're going to hit the road on a motorcycle, do yourself a favor and wear the appropriate protective gear every time. This doesn't guarantee that you'll avoid injury in an accident, but it definitely helps.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, head injury is the top cause of serious injury and death in motorcycle accidents. For this reason, it's important that you always wear a helmet. This may not feel good at times. It may not look good in your opinion. Even so, it's better than the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a crash.

Of course, there are other types of protective gear you can wear, including leather jackets and pants, gloves and eye protection. If you have reason to believe it could help in the event of a crash, it's something you should consider wearing.

If all motorcyclists were concerned about injury prevention, motorcycle accident injuries and fatalities would not be nearly as widespread.

Wearing the right gear is a great way to prevent injury, but remember this: You can't stop others from making poor decisions on the road.

If you're involved in a motorcycle accident, don't hesitate to contact an ambulance. You need to receive medical attention right away, as this may help you avoid serious, long-term complications. In the future, you can then learn more about who caused the accident and what action you can take.
